Today, I would like to continue with my How to Dress According to Your Body Shape series. This time, I will talk about the apple body shape. So, let’s jump straight into it!
- Your shoulders are broader than your hips
- You have a wide torso and fuller bust
- Your waist is under-defined
- Your limbs are thin
What to Wear
The fundamental of all of the body shapes we’ve talked about so far was to draw attention to the waist and pretty much just balance the rest. For the apple shape, it’s slightly different. If you’re a proud apple-shaped body owner, you want to focus on drawing attention away from your middle. That’s not because your waist is significantly larger than the rest of your body. It’s simply because like I said in the characteristics, it tends to be underdefined, and you have other great features you should show off. Therefore, you should avoid wearing wide belts, patterns around your middle, and any other embellishments.
One of the features you should draw attention to is your bust. Ideally, you want to do it without emphasising your shoulders. Excellent options for you are tops or dresses with V-necks, narrow bodices, plunging necklines, scoop or strapless tops and dresses. Boat necks, off-the-shoulder tops or dresses, or decorated necklines are some of the ones you should avoid. In terms of length, your tops should fit loosely around your middle, and fall down slightly below your hips. A-line dresses are another great option for you. You would also look amazing in a dark dress with light colour going all the way down at both of your sides.
You have great long legs and you should show them off! You should wear looser trousers or flared trousers. They can be made of any material you like, and preferably with pockets on your back. This will define your bottom. The one thing, you should definitely avoid, are skinny jeans, and tight trousers in general. They would make your legs look even slimmer, which would create an imbalance in your overall body.
A great variant for you is high waisted trousers and shorts. They will nicely define your waist and emphasise your legs. For skirts, you should opt for A-lines or skirts that go straight down along your legs. Definitely avoid those skirts that are too tight around your waist. And last but not least, are shoes. In general, you want to wear shoes that don’t make your feet look too large. So, shoes such as Uggs are not the best for you. Opt for calf-length shoes, ballet flats, wedges, platforms or strappy sandals instead.

And that’s all I have for this post. I would like to put out there that no matter what I’ve written here, you should wear what makes you feel good in the first place. Even if it’s something you should supposedly avoid!
See you soon!
