What I Eat in a Day #2

Hello everyone,

I realised that I haven’t done a What I Eat in a Day post in quite some time and so here you are! Today’s food diary is from a day when I’m not staying at home all day and therefore I don’t really have much time to spend cooking.

Okay, I know I just said I didn’t have enough time to cook, but I love having some eggs for breakfast. And by the way, this takes maximum ten minutes so it won’t take too much time from your morning. As you can probably tell, I broke my fast with scrambled eggs that morning. Well, that’s probably the only preparation I’m sure of when it comes to eggs. I was frying them with some tomato. You see, I pretty much resent any kind of cooked vegetables except tomatoes. I could eat cooked or fried tomatoes all day long. When the eggs and the tomato were fried enough, I added some feta cheese, then I cut some cucumber and finished everything with a spoonful of hummus, because yes, I serve hummus with everything. And yeah, before I move on to my lunch, I couldn’t skip my morning green tea with my breakfast. I had my favourite one, which is the jasmine infusion from M&S.

For lunch, I picked my favourite take away salad from Whole Foods, which is pretty much my go-to place to eat on the go. The salad is full of leafy greens, such as spinach. Sorry, I don’t know the others, but anyway, there are pecan nuts in it, dried cranberries and my latest obsession, goats cheese. Oh, my god, you guys, I never thought I would like goats cheese. I’m quite a picky eater, there are loads of foods out there that I just won’t eat and I supposed that goats cheese would be one of them because I heard mixed opinions about the taste of it and therefore, I didn’t dare to try it myself. But then one day, I bought this particular salad with goats cheese, and I just can’t get enough of it.

Well, and then, of course, I had to sneak in something sweet because the dried cranberries just were not enough, so I decided to buy this Nakd bar. Usually, I would go for the Cocoa Orange, because it’s simply my favourite but since this Lemon Drizzle one has been made, I always buy this particular one. Shame it’s only a limited edition.

As I said, I didn’t have much time to cook anything. Let’s be honest, most of the time I can’t be bothered to cook anything anyway, so I had just some toasts for dinner. I spread some avocado on them and added mozzarella cheese. Simple but tasty. I know a lot of people prefer to have a nice warm dinner but I’m pretty happy a cold one. Who has time to cook, right?

Okay, so that’s everything for today. I hope you enjoyed this peek into my diet and I’m looking forward to seeing you next week! Don’t forget to check my YouTube channel as well.

What I Eat in a Day #1

Hello everyone,

Today I thought I would do something different and something I’ve wanted to do for quite some time. Today I will share with you what I eat in a day. All of the meals are vegetarian and dairy-free. I am not dairy-free all the time but I’m trying to eliminate dairy products from my diet as much as possible and on this particular day I happened to accomplish that.

Just a small disclaimer, I’m not a dietitian, this is just me sharing my meals with you. Also, I don’t count my macros nor I have any idea whatsoever about the calorie content.

I can’t skip breakfast. I always wake up hungry. It might have something to do with the fact that I eat my dinner fairly early but about that later. I’ve recently been obsessed with this egg porridge. Yes, that’s a thing. I feel like I just need to say that I have pretty strong digestion so my body responds well to the oats but I know that some people might have a problem with them. If it’s your case, I would rather opt for overnight oats or simply stove cooked porridge.

You will need:
 Banana
 Egg
 Flax seeds
 Oats
Mash the banana, add the egg, flax seeds, and oats, mix the ingredients together and put in the microwave for about two minutes and you’re done! Sometimes I eat it without any toppings but for the sake of this post, I decided to add some natural peanut butter and blueberries. I also like to drink a cup of green tea with my breakfast. And the best thing about this porridge is that it keeps me full forever. Or at least until lunch.

Well, since the breakfast is really filling I usually have just a light lunch. Today, I decided to have a sort of scrambled eggs.

You will need:
 Eggs
 Kale
 Tomatoes
 Mushrooms
Cut the tomatoes and mushrooms and fry them together with the eggs and kale on a pan as long as you like. I personally like it quite dry but I know some people like their scrambled eggs gooey.

If I have a snack I tend to opt for something light. Just like this bowl of natural peanut butter and grapes.

As I indicated before, I tend to eat my dinner quite early. Usually around 6PM. Today I decided to cook lentils with some vegetables. I chose red lentils because I like the taste better but it’s up to you. Likewise, with the beans. You can use any kind of beans of your choice. I used red kidney beans.

You will need:
 Lentils
 Kale
 Tomatoes
 Green peas
 Cucumber
 Beans
 Hummus
Cook the lentils together with the kale and tomatoes in a pot. I don’t really know how long should it take because the packaging of my lentils says “simmer for twenty minutes” but it only takes about five minutes. Nevertheless, when the lentils are done, add the peas, cucumber, and beans into the mixture and for some reason, I like to add a bit of hummus on top. I’m just obsessed with hummus.

So, I guess that’s it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed it and don’t forget to check out the video version on my YouTube channel here.

Tips for running

Hello everyone,

I’m an avid runner. One of my ultimate goals in life is to run a marathon. I want to experience the feeling of victory upon yourself when crossing the finish line after the tiresome 26 miles. However, before I do so I’d like to share some tips for running with you. I noticed a lot of runners have quite unique ways of running which definitely hinder their experiences doing that sport. Maybe you’re already on the running bandwagon too and maybe you want to start. In both cases, this post is for you!

TIP no. 1: Use your arms
I noticed a lot of people run with their arms slightly bent in elbows and that’s it. In fact, you should be moving them too. Your arms should be bent in elbows in a 90 degree angle each and coordinate with the motion of your legs. When you run, it’s not just about legs, it’s about the coordination of the whole body.

TIP no. 2: Straighten up
You shouldn’t be bent over while running. And yet there are some runners who do that. This posture can be quite dangerous for your body and is certainly not beneficial as running should be. In fact, in order to achieve the best posture for running, you should strengthen your core.

TIP no. 3: Move your legs more
Some runners are basically dragging their legs on the ground. I get it. You’re exhausted and want to finally achieve your imaginary finish line. But if you raise your knees slightly higher when running, you’ll feel better. I promise.

TIP no. 4: Breathe
I feel like this one is sometimes overlooked. Of course, you’re unconsciously breathing all the time. However, so as to run more comfortably you need do breathe deep. You don’t need to actually count for how long you breathe in and out. Next time you go for a run pay a close to your breathing pattern.

My tattoos and their meanings

In today’s post, I will show you my tattoos and their meanings. My tattoo collection is quite small. It only counts three tattoos, so far. All of my tattoos have a meaning. I am not the type of person who would draw something permanent on their skin, which is fine if you get tattoos only for the aesthetic side of it, but for me, the meaning is important, too.

My first tattoo which I got in 2014 says “Trust Your Heart”, and means exactly what it says. Surprising, right? Although the meaning might seem simple and obvious, I tend to forget that. I do not usually trust my heart but my brain instead. I am not saying that is wrong. However, the problem with me is that I cannot be spontaneous from time to time and tend to overthink literally everything. From what and when exactly I will eat, what to wear, what consequences my actions will have. And the list goes on, so I thought this might be nice and reminding the first tattoo.

My second tattoo from 2015 is an arrow which has sort of two meanings. It is a reminder of my obsessions with Tolkien’s elves (because they are excellent archers) and archery in general. Yes, I am such a nerd. Moreover, it represents me as an arrow that is aiming for its target and just goes for it, however, also needs a bow to help with finding the direction and setting the speed. Well, I sometimes need a little push to get moving so that is why the bow is not included.

My most recent tattoo, also from 2015, is “la vie est belle” and gave the name to this blog. This French quote placed on my forearm is the classic type of a positivity tattoo. You know, the type that reminds you that life is or can be beautiful and keeps you going. I did not want to have tattooed the usual “Stay Strong” or something so typical like that. This seemed like an ideal quotation for the purpose. It somehow became my motto and keeps me going, indeed.

This is definitely not my last tattoo. I am certainly planning to have done more. Yes, it is a kind of addiction. Of course, it hurts. When you are having it scraped to your skin, you are telling yourself “Nevermore!”. But once you leave the studio you realise it was not that bad and it was actually worth it. Let me know what is your view on tattoos!

What you should do in spring

Spring is the time when we all want to shred not only these winter coats (which I am actually really in love with) and wear something lighter. Well, this is not meant just for our wardrobes. So here are my few tips you should stick to this (and every) spring.

1.    Sticking to your already given up New Year’s resolution

Maybe you wanted to lose some weight, get fit (so as my resolution has been) or perhaps you wanted to run a new blog (which has been my second resolution). You were determined to stick to your new lifestyle, and/or going to the gym three times a week. On the 1st of January you were ready to follow your plan but few months later you are at the same place you were before – nowhere.

What about taking it up again? I guess you do not need a specific date in calender to change anything in your life, and tell me, when is better time to start than right now?

2.   Detox

Yes, because your body needs to cleanse time by time, and if you really want to start new, hopefully healthy lifestyle, this is great way to kick off. Even if it is just water with cutted lemons or 30 minutes of walk every day.

3.    Sort out wardrobe

So you still believe you will one day wear that over patterned sweather your grandma gave you, and you have not thrown it away just because you thought it would break her heart? How sweet! You know what? Get rid of it, now! Or you will have a wardrobe full of pieces like this.

Get rid of all those clothes you did not thrown away last year because you thought you would wear it but you did not. You would be surprised of wearable pieces buried in your wardrobe which you can wear again, and which you completely forgot about.

4.    Shopping

Out with the old, and in with the new. You must refill what you have thrown away. The Fashion Week takes place in Paris right now, so get inspired, take your BFF, and shop new goodies for your ransacked wardrobe.
